After taking the Mysql OCP exam in late May 2020, I received an email 10 minutes later that I had passed the exam. A day later, I saw my Mysql OCP certificate on the official website of Oracle.

Because a lot of maintenance of Mysql database was involved in the work, I always wanted to take down Mysql OCP after taking down Oracle OCM. I seldom went out during the epidemic and summed up the relevant knowledge of Mysql. Thinking that anyway, I didn't need a training record for the Mysql OCP exam, so I spent more than 1000 yuan to have a try. I booked the test directly on the VUE website. In Shanghai in May 2020, many examination institutions are not yet fully open to the public. Before May 25, 2020, only one examination institution in Shanghai was opened and booked directly.

According to the examination instructions on the VUE website, I brought my ID card and social security card and arrived at the examination room one hour in advance. It is particularly important to note that the Mysql OCP exam requires verification of the second document in addition to the ID card. The second document can be a social security card and passport, but the Shanghai residence permit is not allowed. After verifying the certificate, the exam teacher took a profile photo, then put the mobile phone and other items into the test bag and gave it to the exam teacher for safekeeping and then began to enter the examination room.

After the examination teacher brought it into the examination room and turned on the examination machine, the exam began. I was overwhelmed by the first question. It takes a lot of time to read the English questions and the English answers. I feel that there is not enough time to take the exam, and there are several questions that I am not too sure about. For example, the slow query log file with mysqldumpslow-a parameters formatted appears capitalized N and'S'. What does this N and'S' represent respectively? the answer involves int, time, number, event, row, transaction, string and so on. After thinking about this question for at least 5 minutes, I randomly chose the answer N to represent number (only after checking the official documents did I know that I was lucky to be right). Unexpectedly, it took 50 minutes to finish the first 30 questions, and it became more and more bottomless. Starting from 40 questions, it became more and more relevant to the work. From 40 to 65 questions, most of them were connected to the status parameter Status Variables, optimized Explain, master-slave copy Replication and so on. I used a lot of time in my work. I pulled the time back all of a sudden. When I had the last 10 questions, I had 30 minutes left. Finally, I finished the 10-to-question slowly and probably checked it. No missing questions were found, so I submitted the exam directly. When I left the examination room, the examination teacher printed a piece of paper for me, which said in English that I couldn't find the score yet, and I couldn't check it until 30 minutes later. The examination teacher joked that you were the first person in our examination room to take the Mysql OCP test in 2020. You must pass and give us a good start.

Ten minutes later, the phone jumped out of the email and announced that it was ready to check the score. I opened the linked web page and saw that I had passed the exam.

A personal summary of the Mysql OCP exam:

1. Mysql exams do not need hands on, that is to say, you can take the exam without training. You can buy test tickets directly from the VUE website and book an examination room for the exam.

2. At present, there is no so-called question bank on the market, and individuals have gone to various forums to search for some scattered examination questions. The hit rate is too low, and it is not recommended to take the test without DBA practical experience.

3. The examination is not very difficult. After all, the whole system of Mysql is relatively small and simple compared with Oracle. If you have indeed been a DBA for several years and often consult official documents when you encounter problems, it is still quite easy to pass the exam.

4. Be good at computer English, or you may not be able to read all the questions and answers within the time frame of the exam.

5. There are a total of 75 questions in the exam. The examination time is 120 minutes. If the correct rate reaches 58%, you can pass the exam.

6. The scope of the exam will probably focus on installation startup, parameter adjustment, backup and recovery mysqldump, user rights and security, isolation level, temporary table memory table, various logs, optimized Explain, master-slave replication Replication, and so on. I didn't get the knowledge of lock type in this exam I experienced.
