Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip hasn't even been officially released yet, but the company seems to have conceptualized its successor well through patents. This is the latest document found by LetsGoDigital, suggesting that Samsung may be leaving this time.

No basic design on the market will exceed the comfort range created by Samsung Galaxy Fold, the so-called Galaxy Z Flip or Motorola RAZR leak. One of Samsung's designs is similar to previous Samsung devices. It folds along the vertical axis, so the open device is very similar to a tablet.

The other is to get the folding skill more directly from RAZR. The most obvious thing is that the auxiliary external display is much smaller on Samsung devices. This is on the other side, too. it looks like a camera. It may have only enough pixels to display date and time data. When folded, the device itself is similar to a standard modern smartphone.

What is the difference between Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 patents and other products on the market?

Compared with its competitors in folding smartphones, Samsung has also created some design quirks that make the design different. In particular, design refers to the use of S-pens and fingerprint recognizers on the display screen.

In addition, Samsung suggests punching holes in the phone cover. This allows the lighting effect to pass through the lid. However, the most interesting part of the new patented design is the external structure itself.

Instead of fully folding the phone in half, Samsung's design overlaps between the shell and the screen. Even if the widget is folded, part of the screen can be displayed outside.

In more traditional flip phone designs, this is represented by a horizontal bar that contains part of the screen. For devices like Galaxy Fold, it is on the right.

In either case, Samsung shows a rich user interface that can be used when the device is fully folded. These applications include media control, notes and fingerprint scanning.

But if there is a Samsung patent description, users will not interact directly with the screen. Instead, there will be a transparent cover along the side of the curve of the outer panel. This will be the way interaction takes place.

The lid will protect the display, create a unified feel at hand, and still allow all interactions. Although it is based on the relevant patent picture, it does not have direct contact with the display protected by it. Samsung's "from monitor to monitor" feature makes it possible.

These may not all be Z-shaped, but they won't happen any time soon.

The fact may be that the two independent designs shown in the patent documents do not apply to the same device. Instead, Samsung may plan to continue to extend its collapsible gadgets to tablets to continue its Galaxy Fold line. Then another gadget may be a follow-on to Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip that has not yet been released.

In short, Samsung may plan to continue to support two collapsible smartphones with completely different routes in the future.
