New Features for Horizon 7 Pods

Ability to automatically deploy a configured Horizon 7 pod into your VMware Cloud on AWS software-defined data center (SDDC). This feature was previously in tech preview and is now generally available.

The SaaS service we developed is called HLCM, and its full name is Horizon Lifecycle Management. This deployment and upgrade service can help customers automatically deploy a ready-to-use Horizon View environment in the VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC) data center of VMware operation and maintenance.

The first version of the HLCM service includes the following major features

The all-cloud architecture, management console and compute nodes are all built on the public cloud platform. To flexibly increase the demand for desktop computing resources (we call it cloud burst, for example, to meet the needs of some enterprises' temporary employment during holidays), as well as needs such as disaster recovery backup, or the needs of brand-new small users without a dedicated IT support team, customers do not need to purchase hardware, plan, build a data center, and then build a Horizon View environment on top of it. Customers only need to purchase the computing power of VMC on cloud subscription, build their own VMC SDDC with one click, and then quickly build and deploy their own Horizon View environment running on VMC SDDC using HLCM service in Horizon Cloud Service's cloud console (about an hour or so).

Deployment is in line with best practices and reduces learning costs for users. Customers do not need to know the technical details behind Horizon View and the complex considerations of architectural deployment. The reference architecture of Horizon View adopted by HLCM services is based on the best practices accumulated by global customers of VMware services using Horizon View, and the corresponding architecture is designed according to the characteristics of VMC SDDC itself. In addition, the Horizon View deployed by HLCM is the Horizon https://www.vmware.com/products/horizon.html familiar to EUC users, and customers' original Horizon administrators can create virtual desktops and virtual applications in the cloud without new training. The HLCM service just launched is one of the latest moves by VMware to migrate EUC's industry-leading enterprise software to the public cloud, demonstrating VMware's continuous innovation, investment and determination in public cloud services.

Horizon View upgrade service, support for more clouds, support for a larger number of users, and other capabilities will be launched in subsequent versions of HLCM.
