Earlier this morning, Microsoft officially released a new generation of Windows 11 operating system. Panos Panay, Microsoft's chief product officer, interpreted the system.

Microsoft brings a whole new desktop style to Windows 11. At the same time, the new version of the system's multi-window, multi-screen display and other functions have also been enhanced, more easy to use.

Panos Panay said that by working with Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and others, including Microsoft Surface, it will ensure that most PCs consumers buy in the future will support Windows 11.

As PCs play an increasingly important role in our lives, Windows 11 is designed to bring you closer to the things you love.

Windows has always been the stage for innovation in the world. It is the cornerstone of global enterprise, helping to turn many thriving startups into household names. The Web was born and thrives on Windows. Many of us wrote our first email here, experienced our first PC game, and wrote our first line of code. Windows is where people create, connect, learn, and achieve, and today it's a platform on which more than a billion people depend.

We have a responsibility to design for all, and we cannot afford to take it lightly. Over the last year and a half, the way we use PCs has changed incredibly, from integrating PCs into our lives to trying to integrate our entire lives into PCs. Not only can we use our devices to meet, study, and get work done, but we can also play games with friends, watch favorite shows, and, more meaningfully, connect with each other. In the process, we found that we reshaped office socializing, hallway chatting, exercise, bar happy hours, holiday celebrations, and so on, all of which became digital.

We see and feel a powerful shift in PC from something practical and functional to something personal and emotional. This inspired us when building the next generation of Windows. We're committed to creating a familiar platform for you to create, learn, play and, most importantly, connect in new ways.

Today, I'm proud to introduce you to Windows 11, which brings you closer to the ones you love.

Redesigned for productivity, creativity and ease of use

We simplify interface design and user operations, enabling productivity while stimulating more creativity. The new Windows is more modern, clean and beautiful, refreshing. Whether it's the new Start button and taskbar, or every sound, font, and icon, it's all designed to give you control, giving you a calmer and more relaxed feel. We put the Start key in the center, making it easier to quickly find what you need. With the power of cloud and Microsoft 365, the Start menu shows you the most recent documents, regardless of which platform or device you've previously viewed them on, even if you've browsed them on Android or iOS.

By providing the flexibility of multiple windows and the ability to parallelize applications, Windows has always been committed to helping users complete tasks as they wish. In Windows 11, we've introduced new Sticky layouts, Sticky Groups, and Virtual Desktops to help you multitask and focus on what you want to accomplish. These new features are designed to help you organize windows and optimize screen space so you can view content on-demand in a clean layout. You can also create separate virtual desktops for life and work and customize them to your liking. Let's imagine that on a PC, you can have virtual desktops for work, games, or study.

Quickly connect with people you care about

Another key to getting closer to your loved ones is to bring them closer to you. The past year and a half has allowed us to connect more meaningfully digitally. Even as we gradually return to face-to-face communication, we want to continue helping people stay connected wherever they are, regardless of devices or platforms.

With the release of Windows 11, we're excited to integrate Chat, based on Microsoft Teams technology, into the Taskbar. Now, whether on Windows, Android or iOS, you can connect with all your contacts in real-time, anywhere, on any platform or device, via typing, chat, voice or video. If the person you're communicating with hasn't downloaded the Teams app yet, you can also contact them via two-way text messages.

With Teams, Windows 11 gives you a more natural way to connect with your friends and family, enabling you to turn silent mode on and off, or start a presentation, directly in the taskbar.

If you're a gamer, Windows 11 is for you. Games have always been the cornerstone of Windows. Today, hundreds of millions of users around the world play games on Windows, enjoy the fun of games, and connect with friends and family through games. Windows 11 unlocks the full potential of the hardware and puts some cutting-edge gaming technology at the player's disposal: DirectX 12 Ultimate delivers an exciting immersive graphics experience at high frame rates;DirectStorage delivers faster load times and a more detailed gaming world; and Auto HDR delivers a wider color gamut and more vivid colors for a truly engaging visual experience. In addition, our commitment to hardware compatibility remains as strong as ever- Windows 11 supports any PC gaming accessories and peripherals you love. With Xbox Game Pass for PC or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, players can access more than 100 great PC games at any time, as well as other new games that keep coming. Get the information you care about faster

With Widgets, Windows 11 enables users to keep up with news and information they care about. Widgets is a personalized reminder feature powered by AI and the powerful Microsoft Edge browser. Even when we are most focused on creation, we need a moment of rest-to communicate with the outside world or to relax our minds. Today, we often check news updates, weather changes or notifications on our phones. But now you can open a similar admin view directly on your desktop. When you turn on the personalized prompt, it slides across the screen like a piece of glass so it doesn't interfere with your work. For content creators and publishers, Widgets open up new spaces in Windows for them to create personalized content. Our goal is to create a vibrant creative channel for brands and creators around the world that benefits consumers and creators alike.

The new Microsoft Store, where all your favorite apps and entertainment come together

The new Microsoft Store is a trusted platform for exploring apps and content related to watching, creating, gaming, working and learning. The redesigned Microsoft Store is faster and has a new design that is beautiful and easy to use. Not only will we bring you more apps, but we'll also make it easier to explore and discover everything, including apps, games, videos, movies, and more, with our picks and highlights. We're also excited to welcome to the Microsoft Store a number of great first-and third-party apps, such as Microsoft Teams, Visual Studio, Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom, and Canva, that will entertain you, inspire you, and keep you connected. The apps in the Microsoft Store have been tested for security and home protection, so you can download them with confidence.

We're excited to announce that we're bringing Android apps to Windows for the first time. Later this year, you'll be able to find Android apps in the Microsoft Store and download them through the Amazon App Store. Imagine recording and posting videos on TikTok or learning online using Khan Academy Kids on your computer. In the coming months, we will share more information about this. We look forward to working with Amazon and Intel on Intel Bridge technology applications.

Create a more open ecosystem that unlocks new opportunities for developers and creators

We are taking steps to further open up the Microsoft Store to provide more profitable opportunities for creators and developers. We let developers and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) launch their apps, whether Win32 apps, Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), Universal Windows Apps (UWP) or any other app framework, and we create an opportunity for them to reach and interact with more users. We are also announcing a gradual overhaul of our revenue-sharing policy, where app developers can bring their own business model to the Microsoft Store and keep 100% of their revenue, with no fees from Microsoft. App developers can still use our competitive 85/15 revenue sharing model. We believe that creating a more open ecosystem will ultimately benefit our customers by giving them secure and seamless access to the apps, games, movies, shows and web content they want and need.

IT deployments are faster, safer, and more familiar

For IT departments, Windows 11 builds on Windows 10 with solid stability, quality compatibility, and familiarity. You can now plan, prepare, and deploy Windows 11 just as you did with Windows 10. Upgrading to Windows 11 is the same as upgrading to Windows 10. When you install Windows 11 on your device, the same management experiences you have today, such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Cloud Configuration Services, Windows Update for Business, and Autopilot, apply to your future environment.

Just like Windows 10, we are firmly committed to app compatibility, which is a core design principle of Windows 11. Microsoft promises that users can keep apps running on Windows 11 through App Assure. This service helps customers with more than 150 users solve any application problem at no additional cost.

Windows 11 is designed to be secure from the beginning, with new built-in security technologies that increase protection from the chip to the cloud while enabling productivity and new experiences. Windows 11 provides a "zero-trust security mode" operating system to protect data and cross-device access. We are also working closely with OEM and chip partners to raise the security benchmark to meet the evolving threat landscape and new hybrid office requirements.

Now is the perfect time to buy a new PC.

To achieve seamless integration of software and hardware, we have been working closely with hardware and chip partners since the first day of Windows 11 development. Our collaboration begins with chip innovation, from the incredible graphics power of AMD and RyzenTM processors, to Intel's 11th generation processors and EvoTM processors, to Qualcomm's AI technology, 5G and Arm architecture support, our chip partners innovate to bring the essence of Windows 11 to the world's vast hardware ecosystem.

And by working with Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and others, including Microsoft Surface, we'll make sure most of the PCs you buy in the future support Windows 11, in a variety of forms and prices.

Working together, we tweaked Windows 11 to optimize not only speed and efficiency, but also to better utilize improved touch, inking, and voice capabilities.

When you use Windows 11 on a tablet without a keyboard, our improved touch experience gives you more space between icons in the taskbar, larger touch targets, and clever visual cues to make it easier to resize windows, move windows, and add gestures. We've also enabled haptic feedback to make the stylus experience more engaging and immersive, so you can hear and feel vibrations as you click, edit, or sketch. Finally, we improved the voice input function. Windows 11 has powerful speech recognition capabilities that automatically add punctuation for you and support voice commands. Voice input is a great feature when you don't want to type and want to express your thoughts orally.

Starting this holiday season, Windows 11 will offer a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 PCs, which are pre-installed on new PCs. To see if your current Windows 10 PC can upgrade to Windows 11 for free, visit Windows.com to download the PC Health Check app. We also work with retail partners to make sure your Windows 10 PC is ready to upgrade to Windows 11. Free upgrades will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs this holiday season and will continue through 2022. We'll be offering early versions of Windows 11 starting next week through the Windows Insider Program, a passionate community of Windows fans whose feedback is critical to us.
