If you want to send and receive mailboxes from the public network, you need to do domain name resolution. It is set in the "domain name resolution background" (the domain name provider provides the "domain name resolution background").

1. Application for domain name

two。 Setting of domain name

Let's take Wanwang as an example to describe the whole process of setup. The domain name settings provided by other domain name service providers are similar.

Domain name setting of Wanwang

a. The setting of domain name and fixed IP address

1) Log in to the Wanwang account and enter the [console]

2) find the "Domain name" menu in the management background.

3) under "add New record", add MX record, select MX record as the type, and enter either the host name or your fixed IP address. Here we fill in the hostname: mail.chinaumail.com, and the priority is set to 5

Description: there is a dot at the end of the value, which represents the end of the hostname. When setting up some domain name service providers' websites, they will not automatically add them for you. If omitted, the DNS server will automatically add your domain name when parsing, which will cause resolution errors.

4) if the value set by the MX record is hostname or domain name, the corresponding A record needs to be added. For example, if the value of our MX record is set to mail.chinaumail.com, we need to add a corresponding A record.

5) for some customers who need to use the client to send and receive email, it is recommended to add pop,smtp,imap records. After the addition, you can see the set MX record and A record in the record list.

b. The cooperation between domain name and dynamic domain name

1) Log in to the Wanwang account and enter the [console]

2) find the "Domain name" menu in the management background.

3) add MX record under "add New record". Select MX record as the type. You can enter the dynamic domain name umailtest.vicp.net for the value. The priority is generally set to 5.

5) for some customers who need to use the client to send and receive email, it is recommended to add pop,smtp,imap records. After the addition, you can see the set MX records and CNAME records in the list of records.

Correctly install and set up the U-Mail mail system. And open ports such as SMTP 25, POP3 110and Webmail 80 to Internet (port mapping is required for routed ones), and your mail server can be used normally.

Note:

1. The MX or A record of a domain name usually takes 12-24 hours to take effect. The update time of each domain name service provider is not exactly the same, so the effective time is also different.

In the following installation and setup process, we assume that the domain name setting is already in effect. Before the domain name setting takes effect, users can temporarily use your IP address or dynamic domain name address instead of changing it where they need to fill in the host name.
