Step 2. Download and install the Windows ADK and WDS components

Note: do the following as a local administrator on the Configuration Manager server (CM16)

When we deploy the operating system using Configuration Manager, ADK is an external component that must be installed. The ConfigMgr prerequisites checker checks a variety of things, including ADK components, such as USMT and Windows preinstallation environments (and so on), so you need to install prerequisites on the server. System Center Configuration Manager version 1802 supports Windows ADK 1709 version.

Click this link and download ADK 1709. You will be prompted to save or run ADKSETUP.EXE and select run.

When prompted for a path, accept the default settings. (or, according to the actual need, put the offline package down for later use)

Select your privacy settings

Accept the ADK agreement

Ensure that at least the following ADK features are selected

Deployment tool

Windows pre-installation Environment (Windows PE)

Mirror and configuration designer (ICD)

Configuration designer

User status Migration tool (USMT)

Then click install to start downloading and installing Windows ADK

When the ADK installation is complete, click close.

Install the WDS feature

To install WDS, open Server Manager, select add roles and Features, and then select the Windows deployment Services role.

When prompted, click add Features to include administrative tools.

Then click the wizard until it is finished, and then close the wizard.
