Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
In order to continue to encourage the use of high-capacity Blu-ray discs and regenerate them in data centers, Sony scientists have designed an innovative new optical disc storage device. The patent, which was recently transferred to Sony, details a new device that can be stored for a long time but can easily retrieve large-capacity optical media such as Blu-ray.
But there is a big flaw in the design-although the device makes it easier for the delivery robot to remove and reinstall the disc, tilting the disc during use will cause the disc to jump out and fly away.
The patent attempts to overcome this defect by modifying the design of the storage mechanism. It now has a cover that slides from the back end of the housing to cover the opening and can be used with the new locking mechanism.
The locking mechanism may include a lever close to the back end of the housing, which can be used to engage the locking claw to secure the optical disc in place.
The patent believes that the new design will make it possible to handle a large number of optical discs more efficiently, which can be used for transport robots in data centers.
