Every six weeks, the V8 JavaScript engine releases a new version, and now the latest version 6.9 has been officially released. According to the release notes, V8 6.9 supports embedded built-in plug-ins on the x64 platform, which significantly optimizes V8's memory usage. The data show that there are significant savings in V8 heap size on x64. Other platforms will be launched in the upcoming release.

­in addition to memory optimizations, version 6.9 also brings performance optimizations. WebAssembly has a new baseline compiler, Liftoff, which can launch complex Web sites with large WebAssembly modules such as Google Earth and AutoCAD more quickly. Depending on the hardware, officials say they have seen an acceleration ratio of more than 10 times.

­V8 v6.9 also reduces the pause time for Mark-Compact garbage collection by improving WeakMap processing.
