After installing pve, you need to use the win10 operating system as a desktop virtual machine. Record the production process here. First, download the image of win10 on the official website at the following address:

When downloading, I found that I couldn't find the place to download. I referred to this URL and successfully downloaded it to the iso image:

In addition, download the virtio driver at:

After the download is complete, upload the above two iso images to pve's nfs storage (or local storage).

Create a virtual machine on pve with the following configuration:

Start the virtual machine and start installing win10 Professional Edition. During the installation process, when you come to the step of "where do you want to install windows?", select load the driver and select the folder in the CDROM of virtio-win-0.1.160.iso, as shown below:

After that, you can install win10 normally and the rest of the steps will do.

I am going to use the spice protocol to connect to the win10 virtual machine, download and install the spice client in the virtual machine, download address:

After completing the initial setup, install all kinds of basic application software as needed.

After completing the installation, use the sysprep tool that comes with windows to clean up your personal information to make it more suitable as a template. Refer to this URL:

In order to connect to the spice of the pve virtual machine, you need to download the virt-viewer under windows, such as:

Download and install, near the end of the installation will report a write error in the registry, turn off the firewall and try again. The running effect is as follows:

It took a long time to connect using the spice protocol. The problem was solved by directly modifying the configuration file of the virtual machine on the pve host and adding the args parameter configuration. The method is as follows:

Modify the pve host / etc/pve/qemu-server/101.conf file. Note that 101is the ID number of the target virtual machine. Add this line: args:-spice port=61001,addr=0.0.0.0,password=123456,seamless-migration=on. Note that the location of the password parameter, if placed at the end, indicates that the authentication failed when connecting, which may be due to my own environment. In addition, you can refer to this parameter configuration to add sound card support, but the CPU occupancy rate is very high: args:-device intel-hda,id=sound5,bus=pci.0,addr=0x18-device hda-micro,id=sound5-codec0,bus=sound5.0,cad=0-device hda-duplex,id=sound5-odec1,bus=sound5.0,cad=1-spice port=61002,addr=0.0.0.0,password=123456,seamless-migration=on

Before using virt-view to connect to the virtual machine, you need to first set the display terminal of the virtual machine to default in pve (updated on May 4, 2019), as follows:

Originally set to spice, as shown below, it is found that as long as spice is set in the web management interface, the configuration in the configuration file will be overwritten. Therefore, you need to change it to default to make the spice parameter in the configuration file take effect.

Use virt-viewer to connect to this virtual machine:

The password is to use the password parameter 123456 in the parameter file:

Set the same in the thin client, set the pve host IP address, set the port to port 61002 set above, and set the password to 123456 set above.
