Recently, I set up a ubuntu server on my computer and made some small demo by myself. When I needed to connect to the network, the problem came, and I couldn't connect to the network. There are some materials on the Internet that are all written down, which are not in line with my own situation. Now record the process of my solution:

First, type ipconfig under cmd on your windows computer

Note that the ip should be the same as the ip segment in the linux network configuration, and then open the virtual network editor interface in vmware, under the "Edit" menu.

Because the NAT mode is selected for the network adapter in my virtual machine settings, as shown in the following figure, this information is the virtual machine installed by right-clicking in the left column of vmware. Select Settings.

So select VMnet8 in the virtual network editor and modify the subnet ip information to satisfy that the ip segment of ip is the same as windows. My windows is 192.168.199.115, so here it is set to 192.168.199.0. Only here can the next DCH IP section and gateway ip be set.

Then set up the NAT

The gateway ip set here is the same as the gateway ip of my windows computer. Click OK to return to the virtual network editor interface, then set DCH, start ip and end ip. This range setting network segment should also be the same as the ip of windows.

Then click OK, then go back to the virtual network editor interface, click OK, restart the virtual machine, ping www.baidu.com has been able to ping, indicating that the public network has been activated

If it is not possible to check whether the / etc/network/ interfaces is set correctly, the circle below is the name of the network card, and in the box is dhcp, which automatically obtains the ip,static or the configuration static ip, you should set address and other information, and specify the ip address.

There is also the dns setting. In / etc/resolv.conf, I set the gateway address, which can also be set to 114.114.114.114, etc., dns server address

Ping windows ip can also be connected with ping.
