Google automatically launched a new Android Auto experience for all users on Dec. 16, as part of the company's initial sharing plan earlier this year.

The new Android car was released this summer, bringing about a massive redesign of the user interface. Dynamic toolbars play a key role in usability.

Toolbars can adapt to applications running on the screen and display information, making it easier to perform a series of tasks.

For example, if you use Google Maps to navigate and listen to music on Spotify, the new toolbar can display navigation instructions or playback controls when switching from one application to another.

New version, same problem.

Google initially announced that it would implement a new Android Auto experience for users on December 16, but the company added a special switch button to the app to allow users to try the feature before that date. On December 16th, this option was removed from the Android auto settings screen, and the new version is now automatically enabled on all devices.

You can't revert to the old Android automatic version, because the previous version also enabled the updated user interface-- server-side switch support, which Google has enabled for everyone.

Redesigning Android Auto doesn't seem to make much difference to stability and reliability, as users still complain about the same problem before updating. For example, navigation applications like Waze often lose GPS tracking, while Deezer and Spotify sometimes stop sending audio to car speakers. The latest update fixes some problems, but has no impact on others.

Recently, Google added a series of other features to Android Auto, including the option to customize the initiator and enable the weather and temperature indicators in the status bar.
