1. Windows Server Backup introduction:

Windows Server Backup is a feature that provides a set of wizards and other tools. Starting with WinSer2008, WinSer Backup introduces new backup and recovery technologies and replaces the previous Windows backup (Ntbackup.exe) functionality provided by previous versions of the Windows operating system. It is a backup and recovery function that comes with Microsoft's own bucket and can perform basic backup and recovery tasks for servers that have this feature installed.

Using Windows Server Backup, you can back up the entire server (all volumes), selected volumes, system status, or specific files or folders, and you can create backups for bare metal recovery. You can restore volumes, folders, files, some applications, and system state. In addition, bare metal recovery can be performed in the event of a disaster such as a hard disk failure. To do this, you will need to back up the entire server or only the volumes containing operating system files and the Windows recovery environment, which will restore the complete system to the old system or to the new hard drive. You can use Windows Server Backup to create and manage backups for your local or remote computer. And you can schedule backups to run automatically. Windows Server Backup is designed for everyone who needs a basic backup solution, from small businesses to large enterprises, but even for smaller organizations or individuals who are not IT professionals. (note: Windows Server Backup cannot guarantee the retention of all Volume Shadow copy (VSS) snapshots. In some cases, after the VSS snapshot is restored to a new volume, it will be unrecognized and inaccessible. To ensure that the VSS snapshot is protected, mount the VSS snapshot and run a backup job on it.)

Delete the backup directory on the local computer. Use this command only if the backup directory on this computer is corrupted and you do not have a backup stored in another location that can be used to restore the directory.

Add: Windows Server Backup can be used in a virtual machine environment in the same way it is used on a physical server to provide backup and recovery services.
