Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
This article mainly introduces the main points of segmented inspection of the problems that can not be added to the iSCSI disk simulated by Starwind, which can be used for reference. Interested friends can refer to them. I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article.
Encountered and found that the VMware ESXi host is installed! It can also be managed successfully with Vsphere Client. The next step is to configure the use of network storage.
Adding can't find storage devices is a typical technical problem, and there are many technologies like this, so we have a general methodology to solve such problems:
1. To solve the problem, we must find out the cause.
two。 If you can't find the cause immediately, deconstruct (decompose) the event, make sure you decompose it 100%, narrow the scope of the problem, and do the same again and again until you find the cause.
3. Only when the reason is clear, the problem is basically solved by 90%.
For this question, we first divide the question into three parts:
1) it may be a problem with the ESXi host.
2) it may be the network problem.
3) it may be a storage problem.
Analyze our problems:
Combined with our previous operations, there is no problem with ESXi host experiments such as installing virtual machines and surfing the Internet, and the possibility of problems is relatively small; the use of the network has always been normal, and the possibility of problems is relatively small, so it is suspected that the possibility of iSCSI storage simulated by Starwind software is relatively high, so what should we do?
Usually we will use the replacement method or exclusion method to verify, for example, to connect it with a major or iSCSI client that confirms that there is no problem, to see if it works, (be sure to make sure that the replacement host or client is normal). If it has a problem, first solve its problem, make sure it is OK, rule out the cause of the fault, and let's verify it.
1. First of all, you need to make sure that Starwind is ready now. (take a chestnut: has the house been built or decorated? The house cannot be lived until it has been built and decorated. )
two。 What is the address of the service he provides? (just like we find a house, to get in, we need to find the door first.)
two。 Do you have access to the services it provides?
3. If not, check the log to see if there are any errors, specific error messages and Koduniang translation.
The procedures for investigation and verification are as follows:
1. Check whether the Starwind is running properly, whether the Targets, device has been created correctly, and whether the status is normal, please refer to the following figure.
two。 Confirm the network configuration of the Starwind and make sure that the network segment of the adapter to which your virtual machine connects to the storage is on the network segment where the Starwind is bound to listen. (in other words, you should know exactly where you want to connect to the IP address.) refer to the figure below to see your IP configuration.
3. To confirm whether your virtual machine has access to this storage, it is divided into three parts: which IP is the source address, which target to access, which interface to access, and make sure access is allowed. Note that the check mark and the word Allow at the end indicate permission.
4. Let's use the host to connect the storage device and see if it can be connected successfully. (we believe that the system is normal, or we can use the system to connect to other normal storage, which can be successfully connected to confirm this. ) Open the control panel and locate the administrative tools.
5. Open the iSCSI initiator.
6. In the Discovery tab, click the Discovery Portal button. In the pop-up dialog box, fill in the IP address input box with the IP address of Starwind, and click OK. Through the list of target portals, you can see that there is an extra record, IP address and port. In many cases, we will fill in this, but after filling it in, we do not find the target storage device. The purpose of filling in this address and port is, iSCSI initiator (where can I find the door of the room? The IP address and port indicate where the door of the house is, but is the door really where the sign is? How to verify it, look at the figure on the right, enter the command netstat-an in the CMD command line console of windows, it will list the local listening IP address and port, this should be executed on the machine on which starwind is installed, if you are installed on a machine, it is executed locally, otherwise you should be installed on the machine on which starwind is installed. The iSCSI initiator can connect successfully only if you are sure that the door of the specified IP address and port is actually listening (available and available), otherwise it will never be able to connect.
7. Switch to the target tab to see, in the list of found targets, we will see an iqn, which is not connected by default, you can select it and click the connection button below to connect, and then you will see that the status is connected, indicating that the connection has been successful. Then you open the device manager, in device management, look at the disk drive on the right, if all goes well, you will see a SCSI device, which is your storage device.
8. If you look at the disk management in the device manager, you can find that there is an extra disk 2 in the system in addition to the original disk 0 and disk 1, but at this time it is only a disk device and has not yet created partitions and logical drives. There won't be more G disks in my computer. If you can get to this step, it means that your Starwind simulated storage device is fine. Next, we need to consider whether there is something wrong with the network configuration and conduct the second part of the troubleshooting.
9. Check your virtual machine in vSphere Client, which switch is the network card you use to connect to the storage, what is the IP address, and which network card is used? you can refer to the figure below to see your machine configuration.
10. Check again, your storage adapter device, you can refer to the following figure. Pay attention to the right side, you will find that the IP address and port added here are different from those we filled in when we started the program with iSCSI. We filled in 192.168.1.66 iSCSI 3260 at that time, which shows that the house in my example has a door, but the door that is out of sync is for different people, and it is impossible to enter if you go to the wrong door. (you should know which door your virtual machine should open and which network card to use. IP to starwind which IP and port) you can look back at our second illustration, which is a list of all the doors in starwind, which you should connect to.
11. If all goes well, you need to add memory to vSphere client, configuration, memory, and the steps can be followed in the book or lab instruction manual. This is what it looks like after it has been successfully added, as shown in the following figure. This indicates that the emulated storage device using starwind has been configured.
twelve。 If you encounter problems in the previous steps and cannot proceed to the previous step, then there may be problems with the network configuration. As shown in the figure below, please confirm the network card in your virtual machine, the corresponding relationship of the network adapter seen in vSphere client, and the network type or mode selected by each network card. You should know which network card you are using to connect to the storage device. Please check the mode of your network card.
13. Then check to see which network segment the subnet set by your corresponding network card in the virtual network editor belongs to, and whether the IP address you configured for the network adapter in figure 9 is consistent with the network segment specified in the network editor.
14. To sum up, it enumerates the process of troubleshooting network configuration. Generally speaking, the support for storage devices is system-level. As long as your virtual machine is normal and can use local storage normally, there should be no problem in connecting to network storage. If in the actual environment, it is another case that you often do not use a network card to connect to storage.
