Like most new online services, Disney's launch doesn't seem to be plain sailing. After the streaming service was launched this morning, some fans on the East Coast woke up and found that they could not connect to Disney's server to watch anything. On Twitter, there are more and more reports that people have encountered the wrong message that "unable to connect to Disney".

The problem doesn't seem to affect everyone, but it has spread widely. You can refresh Twitter every minute and see new complaints every few seconds. According to the website that Downdector tracks such failures, there have been about 8000 reports that people cannot connect to Disney's servers. Many Engadget employees have also encountered error messages.

In fact, Disney said it really wanted this kind of problem to happen. "there are always technical glitches," Kevin Mayer of the company said last week, according to The Verge. "you can improve the technical performance of such services at any time, and we will continue to do so. We haven't solved any problems yet." Disney is trying to anticipate some problems through a soft start in the Netherlands, but if everything proves it today, it will be difficult to launch smoothly on a large scale.

Disney appears to have delayed the launch of the service in Puerto Rico. The company said it would launch there on November 12, just as it did on mainland China, but now it will launch a week after November 19. It is not clear whether today's problem is related to delay.

"Consumer demand for Disney has exceeded our highest expectations," a Disney spokesman said in a statement to Engadget. "while we are satisfied with this incredible response, we understand the current user problems and are working to resolve them quickly. Your patience."
