About Windows_8.1/Windows 7 ordinary users running software tips need to enter the administrator password solution

1. Cause of the problem

Recently, SF Express encountered a thorny problem. SF Express modified the way to fill in the express form and had to install a software developed by their company.(The software is called "Speed play offline user version"), this software is very strange, as long as ordinary users run the software, pop up the "user account control" dialog box to enter the administrator password, or add the user account to the administrator group to run normally, as a relatively large enterprise, how can you open the administrator authority casually ah! There will be endless trouble doing so (if you are an administrator, you know). However, our company has a large number of express mail with Shunfeng mail, do not use it, so immediately to the local Shunfeng branch absolutely can not open administrator authority, must give a solution. Shunfeng still attached great importance to it and immediately sent someone to handle it (we are big customers), but unfortunately, they sent someone to deal with it for a long time, but they didn't manage it. They also gave me the contact information of Guangzhou technical customer service and asked me to contact customer service directly. I also contacted customer service immediately, but I still couldn't find a way for a long time, so he said he wanted to ask the headquarters. Another day passed, but there was no reply, so I contacted the technical customer service in Guangzhou again. He told me that the headquarters said it was a permission problem and asked me to modify the permission. The most painful thing was that he did not tell me what permission I needed to modify (the software was developed by your company, so you should know which files or registry keys need to access the system).

Obviously, SF developed this software without considering it comprehensively, and it was not tested clearly. More than 20 software used by our company at ordinary times did not have this problem. Asked some peers, they also have similar questions (other software used by peers also have similar situations, such as QQ, when logging in as an ordinary user, often pop up the "User Account Control" dialog box).

The key time or need their own detailed testing to find a solution, be prepared to toss it!!! Operations partners.

2. Solution process and effective method

Log in to run the software as a normal user and the following dialog box pops up immediately: (The computer I use "xruan" is a member of the administrator group)

Step 1: Seeing this dialog box, the first reaction is to lower the notification level for User Account Control Settings

Go to Control Panel à User Accounts and Family Security à User Accounts à Change User Account Control Settings, set it to never notify, and restart your PC. As a result, however, ordinary users will still pop up the "User Account Control" dialog box, which is not feasible.

Step 2: Try modifying the compatibility of the program Run the program as an administrator

Right-click the software icon à"Properties"à"Compatibility" and check "Run this program as administrator", then click the button "Change settings for all users" and check "Run this program as administrator", as shown in the following figure:

This method is equally ineffective. What a tragedy!

Step 3: Think of a similar Linux program under Windows that uses sudo to temporarily elevate the user's privileges to run certain programs that require special privileges (called sudowin).

After a round of toiling, sudowin seemed unable to run graphical programs, and the method failed.

Do you really want to open the administrator's rights? No, this bottom line cannot be broken, otherwise more problems will arise.

Step 4: Check the appropriate security options in Group Policy. This may be the last available method.

Right-click the "Win" icon in the lower left corner (I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit version), click "Run," enter "gpedit.msc"à press OK, open the "Local Group Policy Editor," and then "Computer Configuration"à"Windows Settings"à"Security Settings"à"Local Policies"à"Security Options"à"User Account Control: Run All Administrators in Administrator Approval Mode" as shown in the following figure:

This option is turned on by default, and the User Account Control Settings window appears to be controlled by this option. Decisive change to disabled, this option requires a restart of the computer to take effect.

After restarting, log in as an ordinary user, run the "quick offline user version," and successfully open the software without prompting to enter the administrator password. As shown below:

The rest of the operation in accordance with SF customer service software operating instructions to do it, I do not elaborate here.

It was then tested on the company's other Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit systems, all of which worked. Windows XP system does not have this problem, direct installation can be used as an ordinary user software.

Tip: This article is tested in a non-domain environment. If it is in a domain environment, you can open the Group Policy GPO of the "Organizational Unit" where the computer that needs to run the software is located on the domain server side to modify it. The modification method is similar to the local Group Policy modification method.

Summary:

2. Windows is easy to use, but because of this, the system hides a lot of how it works from the user, and when problems occur, it is often difficult to determine the cause of the problem.

3. As a system administrator, regardless of whether it is Linux or Windows, the deployment system must be based on the principle of minimum permissions, so as to ensure the stable operation of the business system to the greatest extent.

4. The above settings must be further clarified in terms of the scope of their control and possible impact.

5. The method of this article is to completely turn off the UAC function, which does solve the annoying UAC prompt, but also reduces the system security level, so other measures must be taken to remedy the security risks caused by turning off UAC.
