The IPv6 protocol comes from two basic driving forces:

First, mobile devices, security issues, quality of service assurance

Second, a country with a large population

The differences between IPv6 and IPv4 addresses are not only in the address length and format.

Address representation

IPv4 is represented in dotted decimal system, separated by four 8-bit segments, each of which has a value between 1 and 255.

IPv6 is represented in hexadecimal, separated by 8 16-bit segments, separated by:, masked with / numeric value

IPv6 address type: (compared to IPv4, it has no broadcast)

Unicast: FEC0, 2xxx::/4 are used to represent the address of a single device (global uniqueness)

Multicast address: FF00::/8 (provides a multicast address that contains "all nodes", similar to broadcast)

Anycast address: like a service that produces the "nearest" and "cheapest" router

Advantages of IPv6:

4. End-to-end connection, NAT destroys end-to-end connection, involves encryption, security
