Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

Chinese display maker Huaxing Optoelectronics is reportedly evaluating its production line to supply iPhone OLED panels to Apple.

It is reported that Huaxing Optoelectronics has formed a team to evaluate the suitability of its production line for Apple OLED monitors. Huaxing Optoelectronics and Apple recently reviewed OLED panels made at their T4 factory in Wuhan, China, according to The Elec.

The T4 plant can produce the 6th generation flexible OLED panels, which are designed to accommodate three manufacturing stages and can provide a total of 45000 substrates per month. Two of these phases are currently under way.

Sources told The Elec that Huaxing Optoelectronics plans to invest in a demonstration line to make more if the reviewed OLED panel meets Apple's standards. Once the production capacity of the production line has been evaluated, it may consider whether to try to make OLED panels for iPhone or to build another production line for evaluation.

Huaxing Optoelectronics previously supplied OLED panels for its Galaxy M model in 2021. In 2022, it plans to produce OLED panels for Samsung Galaxy A73.

Huaxing Optoelectronics's road to Apple's supply chain has not been plain sailing. BOE, China's largest display maker, has been trying to meet Apple's quality requirements in the evaluation process.

Although BOE finally won the contract with Apple, it was not an easy process.

Elec pointed out that Apple's decision to include Huaxing Optoelectronics in its supply chain is "highly unlikely" because BOE can already produce panels with the same specifications. In addition, Apple can use BOE as a leverage point to lower the prices of Samsung monitors and LG monitors.
