Description

Jenkins can not only register users, but also set user permissions, and there is a strict division of user permissions, which will be described in detail below.

Configure user registration

System Management-> Configure Global Security

As shown in the figure above, the option to manage users appears in the system management after saving. Login / registration options also appear in the upper right corner of the page.

Click on the upper right corner to register, then fill in the information, click the registration button to remind you that you are now logged in.

Note: by default, registered users do not have any restrictions and can do anything, which is dangerous.

Configure user permissions

Log in as an administrator user

System Management-> Configure Global Security

Select the security matrix or project matrix authorization policy in the authorization policy

Note: the configuration of the authorization policy of the security matrix and the project matrix is exactly the same, the only difference is that the authorization policy of the project matrix supports configuring the authorization policy again on the configuration page of the Job.

Add users to the matrix, as shown in the following figure.

There are some special permissions:

The maximum permission is Overall's Administer, which allows you to do anything.

The most basic permission is the Read of Overall, and the user must be given the right to read, otherwise nothing can be seen.

Job's Discover permission is a bizarre privilege, helping to say that Discover is at a lower level than Read. If an anonymous user (who does not have access to job) accesses a Job's Url directly, it will be redirected to the login page.

Note: if a user is given Read for Overall and not Read permission for Job, then that user cannot access job. Reason: no permission.

The rest are some basic permissions, which we choose according to our own needs.

There are 1-2 icons after each user, the first is the reverse selection function (delete the currently selected permissions, select all other permissions), and the second is the delete function (delete the user)

By enabling project security, you can further set permissions for users
