Although we have now configured the high availability mode of SQL's Always On, it is not possible to fully automate all tasks in future production. The most important thing is that we need to complete the operation manually:
Manually add the database to the high availability group database so that it can be replicated to the secondary database to ensure future data switching.
So let's see how to do this addition.
First open the database instance from the main database
After you have just installed SharePoint and configured a responsive application service for it, the general content should look like this
At this time, we have to conduct manual screening, yes! The purpose of manual screening is to find out which databases you need to replicate.
Then select the previously created availability group, right-click on the availability database, and select add Database
The system will pop up the add Database Wizard and click next
Because I have added a lot of databases to my environment, I will see a lot of gray ticks, so we will find a new database and prepare to add it.
When you join the availability database for the first time, you need to make a full backup of the database, otherwise there will be a warning error.
In the following figure, we have made a full backup of the database, so to meet the need to add, we directly check the box above and click next.
We are no stranger to this step. In the last article, we specifically created a synchronous folder on the auxiliary database.
At this time, the system will automatically find all the auxiliary databases, because I have only one, so there is only one, in production, according to the needs, here can be multiple.
Then click the connection button at the back
The system will automatically fill in the account under which the service is running, and click next
The system passes the verification. Click next.
Give a systematic overview and move on to the next step
Wait for the replication process to complete
When the copy is finished, click close
At this point, we can find the database we just added in the availability database.
Then under the database tree on the home page of SQL, you can see that the database has been followed by the words synchronized
In this way, we have finished adding a new availability database.
If you need to delete it, it is also very simple. If you are on the main database, just right-click the database in the availability database list and select delete from the availability database.
If you are on the secondary database server, the option is different, just delete the database files on the secondary database server
Click here, and after that, you need to manually delete it in the database list. Please note the current database file size.
Right-click to delete
Then confirm that it is the secondary database server, then click OK
As you can see, now the disk space has been completely released.
