Ubuntu 18.10 has been released, focusing on multi-cloud deployment, AI software development, new community desktop themes, and richer snap integration. Ubuntu Server 18.10 images are available for all major public clouds, and for private clouds, Ubuntu 18.10 comes with OpenStack Rocky for AI and NFV hardware acceleration, and Ceph Mimic for reduced storage overhead.

Ubuntu Server 18.10 includes the latest Kubernetes 1.12, which improves security and scalability by automatically configuring clusters using transport-layer encryption, and responds faster to dynamic workloads with faster scaling.

Ubuntu's secure Linux app store has 1700 developers, 4100 snaps, and support for 41 Linux distributions. Spotify, Plex, and Skype's official desktop snaps are popular, and major public cloud and server apps are now available, including the Google Cloud SDK, AWS CLI, and Azure CLI.

Additionally, updates to the Linux 4.18 kernel as well as Mesa and X.org significantly improved the gaming performance of the system. Graphics support extends to AMD VegaM in the latest Intel Kabylake-G CPUs, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, B+ and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Ubuntu 18.10 introduces the GNOME 3.30 desktop and Yaru, a new default theme for community development. PC-compatible fingerprint unlocking is already available in the latest versions of Firefox, LibreOffice and Chromium.
