"In fact, Amazon AWS has started serving Chinese customers since it announced its entry into China last year. However, Amazon AWS has always adopted a limited preview approach in China, that is, Amazon AWS actively invites some potential customers to use Amazon AWS cloud computing and big data services. Perhaps because of this, in many people's impression, Amazon AWS did not land in China.

In addition, Amazon AWS announced its entry into China, also said it would cooperate with the Western Cloud Base. The first phase of the data center in the western cloud construction site may not be completed until April and May next year at the earliest. So Amazon's AWS service, which runs in the data center at Western Cloud Land, may be even later.

However, even without the western cloud base, Amazon AWS 'China business is already running in China's local data center. Last week, when Unicom introduced its Langfang data center, it accidentally revealed that Amazon AWS cloud services have been stationed in its Langfang data center. I asked Amazon AWS about this matter, and the other party did not comment on it. This is also the consistent style of Amazon AWS, which never discloses the location of its data center, technical details, etc. However, Amazon AWS has very strict requirements for its data centers. According to hearsay, when Amazon AWS wanted to enter China, it invited experts from some domestic data centers to accompany them in selecting local data center partners, and many data centers were not satisfied.

Now, more and more international and domestic vendors are beginning to get involved in public cloud services, and many of them set Amazon AWS as a benchmark or direct competitor. Amazon AWS doesn't care much about what competitors think, however, but is focused on being a "customer." "Customer-centric," this is now IT enterprises often hang on the lips of a word. But that's easier said than done. Amazon AWS has repeatedly cut prices, sometimes even cutting the price of mainstream service products, for example, in order to benefit customers, improve customer experience, and ultimately attract more customers.

At present, Amazon AWS customers in China include two parts: one is customers who have used Amazon AWS services overseas before, and these customers will continue to choose Amazon AWS services in China because they have a good experience; the other is local customers in China who choose Amazon AWS services for the first time. These customers come from a lot of industries, not only Internet and e-commerce customers as people usually imagine, but also customers of some traditional enterprises. The author once communicated with Papaya Mobile_once used Amazon AWS services overseas. They did not have their own IT system, and their IT all ran on Amazon AWS. Typical cloud adopters like these are unlikely to go back and continue to do so on cloud platforms like Amazon AWS as the company grows. Because they taste the sweetness, they also understand and agree with cloud models like Amazon AWS from the bottom of their hearts.

The author has recently participated in several Alibaba Cloud activities. Alibaba Cloud President "Feiqing" will reiterate every time that "mixed cloud is a false proposition". From Alibaba Cloud's point of view, there is no such transition as so-called private cloud and hybrid cloud, only public cloud, which completely replaces the mode of "computer plus software." From this perspective, Amazon AWS and Alibaba Cloud have the same view: they both believe that there will only be public clouds in the future, and if users are still purchasing hardware and software, it is not a real cloud.

In September, there are a lot of conferences about clouds. There is no debate about the concept of clouds at the meeting now. Everyone is talking about how clouds can better land. As users gain a deeper understanding of the cloud, the cloud will not only assume the sole responsibility of infrastructure purchase, but will become a place of innovation for new applications. Only unexpected, not impossible. One important reason why cloud isn't widespread right now is that cloud-based innovation hasn't been fully stimulated. Everyone is still groping.

Next month, Amazon AWS will announce a partnership with a Shanghai-based energy company that specializes in wind energy. It is reported that this traditional energy enterprise, its IT system not only runs on Amazon AWS, but also uses Amazon AWS for innovation-big data analysis, providing big data analysis services for meteorological data by region.
