A few months after JEDEC's LPDDR5X standard was announced in June, Samsung launched the first LPDDR5X modules to the industry. Samsung will now have some competition in this market because Micron has also launched a LPDDR5X memory chip.

Meguiar's new LPDDR5X memory announced at this week's MediaTek executives' summit that MediaTek has verified that Meguiar's LPDDR5X memory can be used with its new chip Dimensity 9000 5G, which will soon appear in smartphones. MediaTek Tianji 9000 is the first to support LPDDR5X memory, which can be combined to provide the peak bandwidth of 60Gbps.

For 5G applications and high-end smartphones, Meguiar's LPDDR5X memory is based on Meguiar's 1 α DRAM technology and can support data rates up to 7.5Gbps, followed by samples up to 8.533Gbps (JEDEC LPDDR5X standard). LPDDR5X memory with 8.533Gbps is 33% faster than standard LPDDR5 memory.

In addition to MediaTek, Micron works with other chipset suppliers and smartphone manufacturers to optimize their products for their LPDDR5X memory.

KitGuru message: as mobile devices demand higher bandwidth, LPDDR5X will gradually become the standard. At present, it is brand new, and no device has this kind of memory. However, it will eventually be as common as LPDDR5, and soon you may find it in almost all smartphones, or even your own.
