Since 2017, China Mobile has organized two distributed file storage collections, which is the first large-scale distributed block storage collection in the telecom operator industry. It has attracted more than a dozen manufacturers, including Chaodao and Huawei, to participate in bidding. In the end, Chaochao took the lead in completing the test in the 5-month test, and won the first comprehensive score by virtue of its excellent product strength.

These three acquisitions of China Mobile can be said to be a landmark event in the operator industry. on the one hand, it marks the accelerated transformation of the operator infrastructure to a distributed architecture, and further promotes the operator's infrastructure resources to be pooled and clouded. 5-month ultra-long test to test the quality of the product

China Mobile attaches great importance to this distributed block storage collection, which is divided into three sections, and a total of 910 sets of distributed block storage products have been procured, including 280 sets of distributed block storage capacity configuration, 480 sets of distributed block storage performance standard and 150 sets of distributed block storage pure software configuration. This super order attracted more than a dozen manufacturers such as Chaoyang, Huawei, Huasan, ZTE, Lenovo, Suyan and so on.

This collection is also very strict for product testing. According to relevant sources, since mid-May, the products of more than a dozen bidders have experienced more than 5 months of ultra-long testing. Taking the test of the first bid section as an example, it includes 12 categories and 36 tests, such as reliability test, scalability test, performance test and so on.

From the test results of China Mobile, the products of Chinese storage manufacturers live up to expectations. Among them, Chaochao performed extremely well in scalability, reliability and performance, and was the first to pass the test with the first place in comprehensive strength.

So, which aspects of performance are the most important in distributed storage product testing?

We have to start with the characteristics of distributed storage. Because block storage is usually used to deploy core businesses such as databases, distributed block storage products need to meet the stringent requirements of key business systems in terms of reliability, scalability and functionality. the procurement of distributed storage products often need to focus on these aspects of testing.

The final public information of the winning candidates released by China Mobile on November 1 shows that the storage manufacturers represented by the tide have become the absolute big winners of this collection. Among the three bidding sections, Chaochao became the first winning candidate in lot 1, accounting for 70% of the winning share of the bid, while other software such as Huawei, ZTE, Shanghai Tianji and Zhong Shift (Suzhou) all got their own.

In the era when traditional storage arrays occupied the mainstream in the past, traditional storage giants were the protagonists of storage procurement in the telecommunications industry. When the business transformation of the telecommunications industry is accelerated and the infrastructure is fully transformed to a distributed architecture, a group of manufacturers represented by the tide can seize this rare opportunity to achieve a counterattack for the following reasons.
