Steps for RAID1:

Ctrl+c prompt appears during post, press ctrl+c to enter LSI Logic Config Utility v6.10.02.00 (2006.09.27)

1. Enter on SAS1064E to enter the following menu

RAID Properties: creating and managing array

SAS Topology: view physical disk and RAID configuration information

Advanced Adapter Properties: view advanced properties and their Restore Defaults (this action does not delete raid)

2. Select RAID Properties, and there are 3 options (if RAID has been configured, 4 options will appear. Please skip to "other instructions 1"):

Create IM Volume: create an integrated RAID1, that is, 2 disk images and 1 hot spare

Create IME Volume: create integrated RAID1E,3 to 8 disks, including 1 hot spare

Create IS Volume: create an integrated Striping, that is, the striping of 2 to 8 disks

3. Select create IM Volume, and the menu of create new array--SAS1064E appears as follows:

Move the cursor to the first disk, [NO] under RAID DISK (No before configuring raid), press the space / minus sign to pop up a menu:

M retains the data and migrates to the newly created RAID1

D delete data and create a brand new RAID1

Select M, then return to the parent menu, and the RAID DISK status changes to Yes.

4. Then move the cursor to the second disk, [NO] under RAID DISK, press the space / minus sign to change its RAID DISK status to Yes.

5. Press C to create the array

6. Choose Save changes then exit this menu. Exit the configuration of RAID1 and synchronization will automatically start in the background.

Steps for RAID0:

If you need to configure RAID0, you can select Create IS Volume in step 2, and the other steps are the same as RAID1.

Other operation instructions:

1. After RAID is configured, you will have one more choice when you enter RAID Properties: View Existing Array--Manage Array (you can see the synchronization progress here)

Manage Hot Spare: configuring hot spares

Synchronize Array (Y: start synchronization, N: abandon synchronization)

Activate Array: activating array

Delete Array: deleting array

3. Tips: all xxx menus are optional; white menus are not optional, and help will be given if you choose them by mistake.

The method of configuring Raid is determined by the array cards on the server. There are three types of array cards that come standard with x3650m2:

1) ServeRAID-BR10i: Raid0, 1, 1E are supported, and Ctrl+C is indicated for post.

2) ServeRAID-MR10i: Raid0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 are supported, and Ctrl+H is indicated for post.

3) M5014: supports Raid0, 1, 5, 10, 50, as well as M5015 array cards, post all have Ctrl+H prompts.
