Hello, everyone, this is the second part of the ViCANdo feature update. In the previous article, we introduced ViCANdo's integration of PCL. In this article, we introduced another feature supported by ViCANdo tools: XCP parsing function integration.

Calibration

Like other functions on the car, the development and testing of the intelligent driving system also follow the general functional development mode, and the system needs to be calibrated and debugged in the process of development and testing, and in the process of intelligent driving development, we are faced with a more complex system, so we can obtain the intermediate variables of the system in order to evaluate and debug the intelligent driving function more accurately.

And with the continuous iteration of sensor products, AD and ADAS test development engineers are facing an increasingly complex test development environment. Engineers need to use more sensors and controllers with more complex structures.

To control the time and cost of ECU calibration, engineers and technicians often rely on powerful tools and standards that can flexibly read and write variables and memory. For this reason, the CAN calibration protocol (CCP) appeared in the 1990s, when the CAN bus was the mainstream bus in the automobile. CCP was later designated as a cross-OEM standard. However, with the continuous development of automotive electronics, other bus systems such as FlexRay, LIN, MOST, Ethernet and so on have begun to become mainstream. However, CCP is limited to CAN network applications, so its application limitations in other potential fields are increasing. This leads to the emergence of its successor protocol XCP.

Like CCP, the General Measurement and Calibration Protocol (XCP) is derived from the Association for Automation and Measurement system Standardization (ASAM), which was established as a standard in 2003. The "X" represents a variable and interchangeable transport layer. XCP completely separates the protocol from the transport layer through a two-layer protocol, and XCP protocol may refer to XCP-on-Can, XCP-on-Ethernet, XCP-on-UART/SPI, XCP-on-LIN, etc.

The new XCP calibration module supports both CCP and XCP communication protocols. You can connect and calibrate your ADAS/AD ECU by using A2L files. While calibrating each ECU is still a daunting task, we have now made your calibration process easier.

In the parameter calibration interface, it is convenient to adjust the parameters in the process of acquisition and analysis.

In addition, ViCANdo supports multi-platform development environments, and you can use ViCANdo to connect to Matlab/Simulink, OpenCV, or the development environment where your code is located. You can compile the object code according to your development process on ViCANdo and test and verify it directly. This way of online testing will facilitate your code update iteration.

The software contains the following components:

ViCANdo:

ViCANdo is a cross-platform data recording and sub-xi tool developed for AD/ADAS. It supports operating systems such as Windows, Linux and MacOS, and supports platforms such as X86 and ARM.

ViCANlog:

The software designed for vehicle-end road test acquisition can run on any linux-based hardware equipment and collect data unattended. In addition to general computers, it also supports Nvidia TX-2, Xavier,Nexcom and other devices.

ViCANdroid:

APP on Android can collect CAN bus, video, audio, GPS and other data, built-in FTP service, and can automatically upload data to the server. It is convenient to process and analyze the data.

ViCANsim:

Through the integration with OpenCV and Matlab/Simulink ™, it is convenient for users to deploy their own algorithms on ViCANsim, which also has an interface with Matlab/Simulink ™.

ViCANbedded:

The goal of ViCANbedded is to be used in an embedded environment, the same as ViCANdo. It is designed to easily migrate the source code from the PC platform to the embedded environment. Currently, it supports QTEmbedded 4.X and later, QNX, Velocity, VxWorks, and so on.
