After installing the Exchange 2010 Mailbox role, you will find that the system automatically generates the corresponding default Database, which is related to the number of Mailbox database server roles:

In the practical application of enterprises, according to the early high availability planning, we will basically establish our own mailbox database, so we will consider deleting the default mailbox database, but there are some very important system default mailbox accounts on these databases. Therefore, before deleting the default mailbox database, we migrate the default mailbox accounts of these systems to the new database. In this case, I created two new mailbox databases, db01 and db02.

The following is the result of the move: be sure to note that the move request status flag (Move Request Status) is marked as completed (Completed) before you can begin to unmount and remove the database.

Try to disconnect the database mount:

Try to remove the database:

As a result, we received the following error: the reason is that in addition to the visible mailbox just deleted, the default database of the system also stores other hidden resources, which we have to check through EMS.

Remount the database and go to EMS to view the system mailbox resources on the system database. Take Mailbox Database 1412025433 as an example (for different default DB, run EMS as an administrator on the corresponding Mailbox server)

Run the following command: Get-Mailbox-Database "Mailbox Database 0138714467"-Arbitration | ft-wrap-auto

Move the system mailbox to db01 with the following command

Get-Mailbox-Database "Mailbox Database 1412025433"-arbitration | New-MoveRequest-TargetDatab db01

Check again to see if there is a system mailbox on Mailbox Database 1412025433

You can see that there is no system mailbox, but delete the default database on MB1 in EMC.

Pop up waring and follow the prompts to delete the .edb file of the default database.

Go to the appropriate path to delete the database, and you can see that the default mailbox database Mailbox Database 1412025433 on MB1 is gone. Other system default mailbox database deletion method is the same as above, the same can be deleted.

At this point, the default mailbox database on both Mailbox is deleted.
