The skill command sends a signal to the executing program. The default message is TERM, and the more commonly used messages are HUP, INT, KILL, STOP, CONT, and 0.

Messages can be written in three ways:-9,-SIGKILL,-KILL. You can use-l or-L to list available messages.

Syntax format: skill [signal name] [rules for selecting programs]

Common parameters:

-v detailed output / list of selected program information-n No action / display program code-t terminal code-u user name-w intelligent warning message / not yet completed

Reference example

Stop all programs on the PTY device:

[root@linuxcool] # skill-KILL-v pts/*

Stop the three users user1, user2, user3:

[root@linuxcool ~] # skill-STOP user1 user2 user3

Freeze process 16514:

[root@linuxcool ~] # skill-STOP 16514

Freeze the oracle process:

[root@linuxcool ~] # skill-STOP oracle

Wake-up process:
