How to install and configure print Server III: setting Printer Printing priority

Application scenario

IT department shares a network printer, Victor mainly does IT technical documents, often need to print long but not very urgent materials, Lander needs to wait when printing. Then we can set the printer priority property, so that when Victor prints large pages of material, Lander printing can jump the queue to print first.

Set the goal

Printing in Victor using Lander can be inserted by setting printer priority.

Operation steps

Only one priority can be set on the default printer, and if we need to achieve two different priorities on the same printer, we need to install a new printer of the same model pointing to the port of the existing printer, then modify the priority of the newly installed printer, and finally add the user or group to the printer of the corresponding priority.

1. Install the new printer to the same port as the existing printer.

1.1 View the existing printer port number: right-click the existing printer-Properties-Ports-192.168.80.20:

1.2 install the printer: Printers-Add Printer... :

Select the existing printer port 192.168.80.20 under Add a new printer using an existing port:

Because the same model printer is installed, use the same driver as the existing printer:

Name the printer IT_HP Deskject 2640_P1:

All the way to Finish by default to complete the installation:

Set the printer priority.

2.1 set the priority of the existing printer IT_HP Deskject 2640 to 1 for use only by Victor.

Check the existing printer-Properties:

Security-Add-Victor Li-OK:

After the addition is successful, the default Victor has print permission:

Switch to Advanced-Priority defaults to 1-Apply-OK, and complete the settings:

2.2 set the newly installed printer IT_HP Deskject 2640_P1 priority to 99 for use only by Lander.

Select New Printer-Properties:

Switch to Security-remove someone's Everyone and add Lander Zhang:

You have the permission to print after you successfully added Lander:

Switch to Advanced and set the Priorites level to 99. The higher the value, the higher the priority:

3. Printers with corresponding priority levels are added respectively to achieve hierarchical printing.

3.1Log in with your Victor account and add a printer with priority 1 for IT_HP Deskject 2640:

3.2Log in with your Lander account and add a printer with an IT_HP Deskject 2640_P1 priority of 99:
