1. Connect the hard drive on which you want to install ESXI to a machine that can install ESXI normally, install it according to the normal procedure, set up a fixed IP, and open SSH (you don't have to open it if you feel you don't need it).

2. Turn off the computer, plug the hard drive into the J1900 and N3150, and do not connect the monitor in any way, do not plug in the cable (very important, it will die as soon as you get it), turn it on, and get it done. Remember to set the startup item in advance. If you need access to the ESXI console, you can use SSH.

But there's a problem. If the host network card of EXSI is 8168 network card, because the network card is not driven. Therefore, it is impossible to configure network IP and other information properly. A series of network cards such as 8168 need to be built in advance to drive into the EXSI system installation package, and other network cards are the same. Let's talk about it later.

Exsi starts normally and can connect to the EXSI console with VMware vSphere Client. However, no data storage hard disk can be found in the console memory. A lot of storage devices have been tried, and neither SATA nor SSD nor MINISATA can find them.

Finally, I suddenly thought, is it because EXSI does not support the SATA driver of the J1900 system? So the storage device cannot be found in the console. So I rearranged the train of thought. It was successful after the experiment. The specific steps are as follows:

Get ready to install the ISO file. Because it was mentioned earlier that the 8168 Nic driver should be built in. And the SATA driver needed now. (attachment will be provided) We use ESXi-Customizer to install the 8168 and SATA drivers in the ISO file of the EXSI source installation before installing. I put the EXSI installation package in two stages. Because the ISO file is too large. It will be transferred to Baidu Cloud later.

two。 Prepare another installation host. Set the host hard drive mode to AHCI mode in advance. And use the just prepared ISO installation package to install EXSI. After the installation is successful, please configure the fixed IP and open the SSH. After confirming that the console can be connected properly, remove the hard drive and change it to the J1900 host (the host hard drive mode is AHCI mode). Be careful not to connect the monitor in any way, do not plug in the cable (very important, it will die as soon as it is connected), turn it on, if you can't connect to the console after startup. Please check how many network cards there are on the host according to the actual situation. Because the order of network cards is different. The corresponding management mouth is different.
