Talking to Google Assistant is a convenient way to get answers to questions, run a smart home, or ask about the weather. However, the assistant may regularly answer questions you don't ask, or accidentally write down summaries of conversations you don't want to hear.

Almost everything you do when you log into a Google account on your device is stored by Google, so you may understandably not want Google to record conversations that don't explicitly ask your assistant for help. Earlier this year, in particular, Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft were arrested by contractors who used recordings captured by their virtual assistants, some of which were accidentally captured involving sensitive personal information.

But Google has a simple command to delete the last thing you say to it: just say, "Hey, Google, this is not for you," and Google Assistant will delete the last message you asked, as Droid Life pointed out. I tested it and it seems to be working well. I asked Google Assistant what the weather was like, which was displayed on the my activities page of my account. When I said the recording was not for the assistant, the question about the weather disappeared from the page.

According to the Google support page, you can also delete recordings within a specific period of time by saying the following phrases:

"Hey, Google, delete my last conversation."

"Hey Google, delete today's event."

"Hey, Google, delete this week's event."

In addition, if you want to delete a record, you have asked Google Assistant all the contents, or let Google delete the record automatically after three or 18 months, you can delete it from Google Assistant's activity dashboard.

Similarly, you can ask Amazon's Alexa to delete voice records, although you must turn on the settings and enable enable Voice deletion in the Alexa application. After opening it, you can say, "Alexa, delete what I just said." delete the last question you asked, or you can say, "Alexa, delete everything I said today." delete the recording of the day. You can also delete records individually and in bulk or set up automatic deletion using the Alexa application or the Alexa privacy page.
