Editor to share with you how to install the Budgie desktop on Ubuntu, I believe most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you can learn a lot after reading this article, let's go to know it!

Install Budgie on Ubuntu

This method has not been tested on Linux Mint, so I recommend that you do not follow this guide on Mint.

For those who are using Ubuntu, Budgie is now part of the Ubuntu repository by default. Therefore, we do not need to add any PPA to download Budgie.

To install Budgie, simply run this command in the terminal. First of all, we need to make sure that the system is fully updated.

Sudo apt update & & sudo apt upgradesudo apt install ubuntu-budgie-desktop

When the download is complete, you will see a prompt to select the display manager. Select "lightdm" to get the full Budgie experience.

Select lightdm

After the installation is complete, restart the computer. Then you will see the login page of Budgie. Enter your password to enter the home screen.

Budgie Desktop Home

Switch to another desktop environment

Budgie login screen

You can click the Budgie icon next to your login name to get login options. There, you can choose between the installed desktop environment (DE). As far as I'm concerned, I see Budgie and the default Ubuntu (GNOME) desktop.

Select your DE

Therefore, whenever you want to log in to GNOME, you can use this menu to do so.

How to delete a Budgie

If you don't like Budgie or just want to go back to the regular old Ubuntu, you can switch back to the regular desktop as described in the previous section.

However, if you really want to remove Budgie and its components, you can return to the previous state by following the command below.

Switch to another desktop environment before using these commands:

Sudo apt remove ubuntu-budgie-desktop ubuntu-budgie* lightdmsudo apt autoremovesudo apt install-reinstall gdm3

After successfully running all commands, restart the computer.

Now you will go back to GNOME or any other desktop you have.
