Fedora Core

Debian

The Debian Project was born on August 13, 1993 with the goal of providing a stable, fault-tolerant version of Linux. Debian is supported not by a single company, but by many developers who have invested a lot of time in improving it, drawing on the experience of early Linux. Debian installation is entirely text-based, which is not a bad thing in itself. This is not the case for beginner users. Because it only uses fdisk as a partitioning tool and has no auto-partitioning, its disk partitioning process is annoying. After the disk is set up, the software kit selection is done through a tool called dselect, but it does not provide users with easy setup steps to install basic tool sets such as development tools. Finally, you need to configure X Windows using the anXious tool, which is similar to the configuration process for other versions of X Windows. Once this configuration is complete, Debian is ready to use.

Mandrake

MandrakeSoft, the publisher of Linux Mandrake, was founded in 1998 by a Linux advocacy group with the goal of making things as easy as possible. Ultimately, Mandrake provides an excellent graphical installation interface, and its latest version includes many Linux packages. As a fork of Red Hat Linux, Mandrake positions itself among the best Linux releases on the desktop market. But the company still supports installation on servers, and the results are not bad. Mandrake installation is straightforward, with simple installation options for beginner users. It uses the GUI entirely, and also makes a simple GUI for disk partitions suitable for all types of users. The selection of software packages is very standard, and there are also options for software groups and individual packages. After installation, users simply restart the system and log in.

Mandrake provides technical support primarily through mailing lists and Mandrak's own Web forums. Mandrak is a great choice for desktop users, and it also makes an excellent server system, especially for Linux novices. It uses the latest version of the kernel and has many of the software users need to work with in a Linux server environment-databases and Web servers.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Linux operating system based on desktop applications. Red Hat Linux

Red Hat Linux installation is also straightforward. Its graphical installation process provides all the information needed to easily set up a server. The disk partitioning process can be done automatically or with GUI tools of choice, which is simple even for Linux novices. Once the system is up and running, users can get full technical support from the Web site and Red Hat. I found Red Hat to be an optimal version for the masses. It works well on both server and desktop systems. Red Hat's only flaw is that it comes with some non-standard kernel patches, which makes it difficult to customize to users 'needs. Red Hat offers extensive technical support through forums and mailing lists, as well as its own telephone technical support, which is more attractive to corporate customers who require higher levels of technical support.

SuSE

Germany-based SuSE AG has been struggling in the business world for more than eight years to create the best Linux version of a connected database. To achieve this, SuSE works with Oracle and IBM to make their products work consistently. SuSE also developed SuSE Linux eMail Server III, a very stable email group app.

SuSE 7.3, based on the 2.4.10 kernel, improves ease of use over the original version. The installation process is done through the GUI, and the disk partitioning process is also very simple, but it does not provide more control and choice for the user.

Linux Mint

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution that aims to provide a more complete ready-to-use experience, including browser plug-ins, multimedia editing, DVD playback support, Java, and other components. It is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories. Linux Mint is an operating system designed for PC and X86 computers.

Gentoo

centos

CentOS (Community Enterise Operating System) is a Linux distribution compiled from the open source code released by Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Since they come from the same source code, some servers that require a high degree of stability use CentOS instead of the commercial version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. CentOS does not contain closed source software, but is a freely available enterprise Linux distribution based on Red Hat Linux. Each version of CentOS receives ten years of support (via security updates). New versions of CentOS are released approximately every two years, and each version of CentOS is updated periodically (approximately every six months) to support new hardware. This creates a secure, low-maintenance, stable, highly predictable, and highly repeatable Linux environment. CentOS stands for Community Enterprise Operating System.

CentOS is the product of RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) source code recompilation, and on the basis of RHEL fixed a number of known bugs, compared to other Linux distributions, its stability is trustworthy.

RHEL comes out in two ways. One is binary distribution and the other is source code distribution.
