Network mode in VMware Workstation:

As can be seen from the above figure, when the virtual machine is installed, the virtual network card and 10 virtual switches will be installed automatically, and the virtual network card can be added manually.

Below, explain the functions and differences of several common virtual switches:

VMnet0: bridge mode, the virtual machine is connected to the virtual switch of VMnet0, and the virtual machine is like an independent host in the local area network, which can access any machine in the network. The virtual machine needs to be manually configured with an IP address, subnet mask, and on the same network segment as the host. If we want to use a virtual machine to build a new virtual server to provide services for other users in the local area network, we can choose the bridging mode. The virtual network structure is shown below:

VMnet1: host-only network mode, in which all virtual systems are connected, but are isolated from the real network environment and cannot access the external network environment. You can choose this mode if you want to do some network debugging. The virtual network structure is shown below:

VMnet8:NAT mode, which allows virtual machines to access the public network through the network where the host is located.
