In terms of technology, the development of big data technology in China belongs to the "first echelon in the world," but the domestic core technology capability is seriously insufficient. China's unique large-scale application scenarios and multi-type practice modes have promoted the speed and capability level of technological innovation in the field of big data and are in an international leading position. In terms of technical comprehensiveness, China's platform, management and application technologies all have large-scale landing cases and research; in terms of application scale, China has completed the largest cluster open capability test in the field of big data, reaching ten thousand nodes; in terms of efficiency capability, China's big data products have also achieved the top few good results on the international big data technology capability competition platform; In terms of intellectual property rights, in 2018, China's patent disclosure in the field of big data accounted for about 40% of the world's total, ranking second in the world. However, most of China's big data technology is based on the secondary transformation of foreign open source products, and the core technical capability needs to be strengthened urgently. For example, in the current domestic mainstream big data platform technology, the proportion of self-research does not exceed 10%.

In terms of industry, China's big data industry has maintained steady and rapid growth for many years, but it faces the key transformation of improving quality and efficiency. In 2018, China's big data industry continued its growth rate over the years and continued to maintain relatively high growth. According to the calculation of China Information and Communication Research Institute, the overall scale of China's big data industry is expected to reach 540 billion yuan in 2018, up 15% year-on-year. However, considering various factors such as domestic and foreign environment and development of emerging technologies, the growth rate of big data industry has declined. China's big data industry is also facing a critical transition period from high-speed development to high-quality development.
