Download and use of virtuoso Database

The open source version of the virtuoso database can be downloaded from sourceforge. I use version 7.25. It is recommended to download the compiled generic version (download the red one in the picture). I encountered the problem that the openssl version does not support the version that needs to be compiled.

After downloading, extract it to / usr/local and add some environment variables, which allows you to start the virtuoso database service directly on the terminal without having to cd to the bin directory of vituoso or add a path. Edit the profile file under / etc, add export VIRTUOSO_HOME=/usr/local/virtuoso-opensource to the last line, and then add the path to virtuoso ${VIRTUOSO_HOME} / bin,PATH in PATH separated by colons. My environment variables are set as follows:

Restart after setting the environment variable. Rename virtuoso.ini.sample in the database folder under virtuoso-openlink to virtuoso.ini. Then start the terminal, cd to the database directory, and type virtuoso-t-fd to start the service. Enter http://localhost:8890 in the browser to enter the port 8890 web page to open its initial page. Click conductor and enter your user name and password (both dba) to take you to the database service page.

Click linkedata and then click Quad Store Upload to load rdf data, where FIle is the rdf data you need to upload in ttl format or xml format (virtuoso supports multiple formats of rdf data, more than these two). You need to set the Named Graph IRI yourself. As a test, we changed it to http://localhost:8890/test. Click Upload to finish uploading data.

Then we open Graphs and we can see the Named Graph IRI we just created.

Then we click SPARQL and we can do sparql search. Note that the Default Graph IRI needs to be set to the http://localhost:8890/test you just created.

The use of isql

The Virtuoso database can use the database's command management tool ISQL. Open the terminal and enter isql 1111 dba dba to enter isql. Note, however, that the ISQL of Virtuoso conflicts with the ISQL of the existing unixODBC of the system (there will be a [ISQL] ERROR: Could not SQLConnect error message), so you need to rename the isql under virtuoso's bin directory. I renamed it to isql-v so that you can enter isql by typing isql-v 1111 dba dba at the terminal.
