There are many smart light switches that can be used with Alexa, but when it comes to basically built-in light switches for the entire Amazon Echo, this list is much shorter. Now we can add instinct to the list. To the best of our knowledge, the list contains only one other product: Ecobee Switch.

The I ideservices Instinct is now available as a single pole switch with built-in dual far-field microphones, audio technology from Soen Audio (including a miniature speaker), a LED ring that lights up when you hear an Alexa wake-up word, and a user-defined night light.

You will be able to play Amazon Music (and listen to books about Audible) when it launches, but iDevices says it will provide additional music streaming services in the future (Spotify will be a popular supplement). The switch also has in-vehicle motion and ambient light sensors, but these sensors will not be activated at startup (they will be activated in future firmware updates).

In our comments on the Ecobee Switch (also a unipolar switch), we found that the device's miniature speakers were very loud, but there was something wrong with its microphone. We are curious about the existence of Soen Audio technology because the company specializes in lightweight and compact audio systems.

Once we have mastered the instinct, we will fully review it, but we already know some limitations of the instinct: it is a unipolar switch, so it is not suitable for lighting control. There's more than one switch. Strictly speaking, this is a switch. You can't use it to dim the light.

Now, you can put the intelligent adjustable light bulb into the instinctive socket. If it works, you can say "Alexa, turn on instinct" and then say "Alexa, set the [smart light bulb name] to 50%." We'll find out as soon as possible. Let's look back at ourselves.
