Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

As a system administrator of Windows Server, I am not interested in linux technology. But the reality is in front of us, the Linux server is more and more widely used in the production environment, especially in the Internet field, the Linux server takes the lead. In order to become an excellent operation and maintenance engineer, it is imperative to master the operation and maintenance technology of linux. So I recently participated in the linux primary operation and maintenance training of the old boy teacher.

I was inspired by the summary of the configuration RAID made by Zhai Xiangpan in combination with DELL physical server in the excellent homework presentation of the first class. It just so happens that the migration of the application business running on one of the company's IBM servers has left the opportunity to do some tests, so I would like to try to write a few summaries about the configuration of RAID and IMM cards on IBM 3650M2 servers to share with you.

Thanks to my classmates Zhang Xiaoliang and Zhang Lei

They provided me with the IBM ServerGuide CD image I needed for the experiment.

This lab is used to demonstrate the configuration of RAID through the MegaRAID BIOS Config Utility Virtual Configuration tool of the IBM 3650M2 server

Experimental host: one IBM 3650M2 server and 4 146g SAS hard drives.

The steps of the experiment:

1. After passing the post, press [ctrl] + h key when the following prompt appears on the screen to enter the raid card configuration interface.

2. Confirm the corresponding raid card and select the start button

3. After entering, the main interface can display the current disk array situation.

4. We configure through the configuration wizard

5. First of all, let's clear the previous RAID configuration (to make sure that all the data on the server is backed up is useless)

6. The system will warn us that if we do this, our data will be lost. Choose yes to continue.

7. When we go back to the main interface, we can see that the previous arrays have been cleared. We click the wizard to start creating our own new array.

8. We choose to create a new array and the next step

9. Select yes and the next step

10. We choose automatic configuration and need redundancy

On the left is our idle disk, and on the right is the virtual device

We can select more than one by holding down CTRL and clicking on the idle disk, and then click accept to add to the virtual device.

13. We save the configuration

14. Confirm and initialize

15. The system will take care of it soon. We click home to return to the main menu to confirm.

16. A 4-disk raid5 array will be built.

Note: I tried many times through the MegaRAID BIOS Config Utility Virtual Configuration tool, but failed to configure the RAID5+ hot spare. I wonder if any friends know how to operate in this tool? Since I only created a new raid5 array with this tool, I failed to create a new hot spare, so I added the experiment of using IBM's ServerGuide boot disk to create a RAID5+ hot spare.
