With the exception of Apple, Samsung and Google, many smartphone makers have been competing to offer the fastest charging technology, but these are just band-aid solutions to the real problems that have plagued smartphones for years. Compared with the fast-paced innovation in smartphones and even charging technology, battery technology, especially consumer electronics, has not really made rapid progress in the past few years. However, Xiaomi soon wanted to sing a different song, and its announcement of advances in battery development sounded almost too modest, but it actually had a bigger impact than the ultra-fast charging speed of 120W.

It's almost crazy how far we've gone in terms of charging technology. In the past, we actually had to plug in our phones all night to make sure they had enough juice when we woke up. Today, unless your phone can stop or trickle down after a given percentage, doing so may actually be more dangerous and less efficient.

We have even reached the point where it almost seems that some companies have lost their marble. Earlier this year, Xiaomi demonstrated its latest ultra-fast charging technology, which achieves 200W wired speed and an incredible 120W wireless charging speed. Of course, we didn't even see any of this on our phones this year.

However, not all smartphone makers have joined the trend, and there may be good reasons for this. Faster charging involves some hidden costs, such as overall battery life and safety risks. Fast charging technology is really just to minimize the downtime we have to endure when charging our phones. They didn't really solve the real problem fundamentally.
