Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
This article is about how to update, rebuild and install CD on your Fedora Core 3 system. The editor thinks it is very practical, so share it with you as a reference and follow the editor to have a look.
Preparation
Fedora Core 3 comes with all the necessary tools for updating and rebuilding the installation of CD. This requires sufficient disk space-- about 22 GB. Fedora Core 3 is released on CD ISO images with a total of about 4.5 GB. The space requirements are as follows:
1. Space for distribution ISO images (4.5 GB).
two。 Space for the extended installation directory tree generated from the ISO image (4.5 GB). The tree will be updated during the update / reconstruction process.
3. The space used for the branch directory tree of the installation directory tree that will be segmented by ISO image capacity. (4.5 GB)
4. Space for updated ISO images (4.5 GB).
5. Additional workspaces during the reconstruction process (1 to 3 GB).
It takes about 2 GB space to sort out the results. If you rebuild the optional save CD, you will need an extra 1 to 2 GB space.
Although updating and rebuilding the CD installation disk can be done on some other system, we assume that this is done on a Fedora Core 3 system. You will need to install the following packages:
Anaconda-10.1.0.2-1
Anaconda-help-10.1.0-1
Anaconda-runtime-10.1.0.2-1
Busybox-anaconda-1.00.rc1-5
Then you need to build the installation directory tree. All of the following actions need to be performed as "root". Suppose the distribution ISO image is placed on a different disk partition, which needs to have at least 10 GB of free space (or 15 GB, if the new ISO image will be placed there). Do the following in a subdirectory of that partition: network bitsCN_com
Export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/anaconda
Export PATH= "$PATH:/usr/lib/anaconda-runtime"
Export FCBASE= `pwd`
Mkdir-p $FCBASE/fc3/i386
Feedom.net
These are some settings. Now do the following:
Mount-o ro,loop FC3-i386-disc1.iso / mnt
Cp-a / mnt/* $FCBASE/fc3/i386/
Umount / mnt/
54com.cn
Then repeat the above for the other three binary images of ISO i386 and four SRPMS ISO images.
Note: if you have a DVD ISO image, you can use it instead of the four binary ISO images. However, you will still need to copy the contents of the four CD images of SRPMS ISO.
Note: if you already have an extension directory tree that is being used for installations such as NFS, simply copy it. You have now created the installation directory tree.
Fedora Core 3 update
Generally speaking, updating a distribution is to replace RPM and source code RPM with a newer version. You need to make sure that you have deleted the old (replaced) version. Because the file names of the old and new versions of the package will be different, this can be a lengthy manual process. I'm sure someone has created a script that will remove the older version and leave only the new version of the package.
Warning: a small number of packages have multiple schema versions, and you need to be careful not to delete additional schema versions. The i386 release is clear as follows: China Network Management Forum bbs.bitsCN.com
1. Glibc, nptl and openssl packages use i386 and i686 versions of the software package. Feedom.net
two。 The kernel and symmetric multiprocessor (smp) cores have packages in i586 and i686 versions (but not i386 versions).
The 64-bit x86 distribution of Fedora Core 3 contains many packages with 64-bit x86 and i386 (some or i686) versions, so both 32-bit and 64-bit software can be supported.
If you need a special Fedora Core 3 kernel to support what you are doing, you can rebuild a custom kernel package using the source code RPM, and then use these rebuilt packages in a newer release. How you rebuild this kernel package is beyond the scope of this document.
You can also add packages by copying them to the $FCBASE/fc3/i386/Fedora/RPMS directory and the $FCBASE/fc3/i386/SRPMS directory (for source code RPM).
