This article will explain in detail how to achieve the import and export of Exchange 2010 mailbox data, the content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it with you for reference. I hope you will have a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.

Individual user mailboxes on the Exchange server can be imported / exported, and the mailbox data will be saved in PST format, that is, Outlook's personal folder data file.

For Exchange 2000 server, when you need to import / export individual user mailbox data, you can use a tool called EXMERGE. For the Exchange 2007 Compact 2010 server, the EXMERGE tool is no longer applicable. You need to use the Export-Mailbox and Import-Mailbox commands provided by Exchange.

To import and export mailbox data, the account that performs the operation needs to have full control over the target mailbox. In Exchange 2007, permissions can be granted simply through the EMC console; due to the introduction of RBAC in Exchange 2010, permissions are assigned differently. In Exchange Server 2010, new command sets Mailbox Import Request and Mailbox Export Request have been introduced, and Outlook is no longer needed. Different versions of Exchange 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2010 RTM are described below:

Exchange Server 2010 SP1

Create a shared folder and give the Exchange Trusted Subsystem group write permission to the share. This folder will be used to store exported mailbox data

Assign administrative roles to administrators. The User parameter administrator here can be either a user account or a security group.

New-ManagementRoleAssignment-Role "Mailbox Import Export"-User "administrator"

Reopen Exchange Management Console

Run the command for mailbox export

New-MailboxExportRequest-Mailbox GEORGEWU-FilePath "\\ PCOESUPPORTSVR\ ExportedMailbox\ GEORGEWU.pst"

Exchange Server 2010 RTM

To export / import mailbox data on Exchange 2010 RTM, you need to install the Exchange 2010 management console and 64-bit Outlook 2010 on a 64-bit server (which can be an Exchange server).

Mode of operation:

Set full control over the mailbox of the imported user for the administrator account

Assign administrative roles to administrators. The User parameter administrator here can be either a user account or a security group.

New-ManagementRoleAssignment-Role "Mailbox Import Export"-User "administrator"

Reopen Exchange Management Console

Run the command for mailbox export

Export-mailbox MAIL_BOX_IDENTITY-PSTFolderPath C:\ mailboxes

After running, you can see the PST file with the alias of the user mail in the specified folder C:\ mailboxes.

To import mailboxes:

Dir C:\ Mailboxes | import-mailbox-PSTFolderPath C:\ mailboxes

Attachment: export user mailboxes from Exchange 2007

Set permissions for administrator accounts with full control over users who need to export mailboxes

Get-mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission-User administrator-AccessRights fullaccess

Export user mailbox

Get-mailbox | export-mailbox-PSTFolderPath C:\ mailboxes

After running, in the specified folder C:\ mailboxes, you can see the PST file with the user mail alias as the file name.
