When there are more than 200W single directory files in Ext4, the performance degradation is even worse.

Due to the historical disk structure, Ext4's inode limit (32 digits) is limited to a maximum of more than 4 billion files. And if the single file size of Ext4 can only support up to 16 T (4 K block size), these are bottlenecks, at least for now.

While XFS uses 64-bit management space, the file system scale can reach the EB level, it can be said that in the next few years, XFS will completely replace Ext4!
