This article will explain in detail how to compare data sets in SPSS commonly used statistics. The content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it with you for reference. I hope you will have a certain understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.
Compare data sets
The input of survey data often adopts the double-blind entry rule, that is, the two people enter all the data according to the same entry order (questionnaire number order), and then review and compare (validity test). Furthermore, for the inconsistent data entered by the two people, they are verified and modified against the original questionnaire until the data in the two data files are exactly the same. In order to avoid input errors caused by human factors in the process of data entry, comparative data sets (Compare Datasets) can achieve this purpose.
At present, the final examination results of five subjects in a class are entered in parallel by two teachers. after input, the documents test01.sav and test02.sav are established respectively, and try to compare whether the data entered by the two teachers are consistent.
1) Open the data files test01.sav and test02.sav.
2) Select [data (Data)] → [compare dataset (Compare Datasets)], open the Compare to dialog box, select the test02.sav dataset in the open dataset (An open dataset), click "continue", and open the Compare tab (see figure 3-22).
Fields matched by ☆ (Matched fields), showing a list of fields with the same name and type in both datasets.
☆ mismatched fields (Unmatched fields), click this button to view a list of fields with different names or types in the two datasets.
☆ to compare the field (Fields to Compare), below select chinese (language), math (mathematics), physics (physics), chemist (chemistry), biology (biology) 5 fields.
☆ case ID (Case IDs), a field that identifies the uniqueness of the case. You can select multiple fields. In this case, select no (student number).
□ sorts the case (Sort Cases), sorting the two datasets according to the field of the case ID (Case IDs).
3) Click the Attributes tab and switch to the Attributes tab, as shown in figure 3-23.
By default, only data values are compared, and the data dictionary (Do not compare the Data Dictionaries) is not compared. If you select the comparison data dictionary (Compare the Data Dictionaries), you can also set the attributes to be compared (Attributes to Compare), such as: width (Width), label (Label), value tag (Value Labels), missing (Missing), column (Columns), alignment (Align), measurement (Measure), role (Role) and custom attribute (Custom Attributes).
4) Click the Output tab to switch to the Output tab, as shown in figure 3-24.
☆ saved variables and datasets (Save Variables and Datasets).
□ marks a mismatch in the new field (Flag mismatches in a new field), which generates a new variable in the active dataset with the default name (Name) of CasesCompare, and a value of 1 indicating that the case has inconsistent variable values in the two datasets. 0 if all values are the same. If the case in the active dataset is not in another dataset, the value is-1.
□ copies matching cases to a new dataset (Copy matched cases to a new dataset).
□ copies mismatched cases to a new dataset (Copy mismatched cases to a new dataset), which in this case sets the name (Name) to test03.
The □ restriction item table (Limit thecase-by-case table) provides details of the mismatch values for each case, and the default value for the reported maximum mismatch number (Maximum number of reported) is 100.
5) Click OK to complete the comparison dataset (Compare Datasets) to copy the mismatched cases in the active dataset to the new dataset (test03.sav).
6) result analysis
From the table of Case By Case Comparison results (abbreviated), it can be seen that the scores of chinese (Chinese) with student number 10, math (mathematics) with student number 14, chemist (chemistry) with student number 17, physics (physics) with student number 19 and biology (biology) with student number 21 are inconsistent between the two data sets.
