Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
In this experiment, let's continue to see what is special about the routing protocols in the data center network. Well, the answer is the same as FHRP. In fact, the deployment of OSPF and EIGRP in the data center is almost the same as in a regular network.
Why not discuss RIP and BGP? Basically, it is because RIP has no advantages over OSPF and EIGRP, and it is full of disadvantages, and BGP should usually be deployed in large networks (large networks are similar to those of operators or the wide area network of multinational corporations), so we will not discuss the issue of BGP here.
For the current mainstream data centers, the internal network is layer 2, and gateways and routes are usually deployed at the edge of the network. There are two different deployment methods (in fact, very similar). Let's start with the topology we used before.
For such a topology, the routing protocol must be deployed on two N7Ks, which is the first deployment, with the core layer directly connected to the WAN. But can't two N5Ks do gateways and deploy routing protocols?
In the second deployment mode, you can also find two N5Ks to connect to WAN separately.
Although it feels like the technical implementation is similar, it is quite different for those who design the architecture. In the first way, all traffic to the WAN needs to be handled by the core N7K, will it put too much pressure on the core equipment? Or should we add two devices specifically designed to connect to the WAN, such as the N5K we use here? This is indeed a question worth thinking about.
OK, after talking about a seemingly complicated problem, let's talk about today's experiment. The reachability of underlying routing is the basis of data center interconnection (Data CenterInterconnect, DCI), so although OSPF and EIGRP are familiar to everyone, let's do the experiment again.
Lab Topology:
Show time, the experiment begins.
It's just a simple demonstration of how to run routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP on NEXUS devices. We don't discuss the advanced features of routing protocols in detail.
